Lo que paso en '¡Mira Quién Baila!' - segunda gala

The 2013 Primetime Emmy Award red carpet - my hit and miss

Another year of the Emmy Awards that came along with hit and misses at the celebrity red carpet event. Some looked gorgeous, others needed a fix here, there or all around:
*Miss*
Lena Dunham
A miss for actress Lena Dunham wearing Prada print dress, it just doesn't flatter her at all. If the skirt was straight not pleated, maybe it would have done her justice.

Alyson Hannigan
Purple Maresha ball gown is a good fall color choice for Alyson Hannigan but that is it.

Aubrey Plaza

Becky Baeling

Claire Danes
This particular gown by Armani Prive just isn't the right choice  for Claire Danes' body type - too low cute and the color choice just fades into her skin.
Emily Deschanel

*Hits*
Danielle Brooks
Love the color and how the gown flatters actress Danielle Brooks' figure - take note full-figured females.

Christina Hendricks
Great pick for another full-figure actress Christina Hendricks showing off a Christian Siriano design.

Morena Baccarin
Goes to show one can still be gorgeous when pregnant at any event, actress Morena Baccarin glowing.

Sofia Vergara
Sofia Vergara nailed it once again with her Vera Wang stunning gown, depicting all the curves.
Anna Gunn
Love the black lace strapless top combined with the white skirt by Romona Kaveza, a very elegant gown choice.

Julie Bowen

Leslie Mann

Kelly Osborne
Designer gown by Jenny Peckham fits Kelly Osborne very nice.

Sarah Hyland

Heidi Klum
Maroon color figure fitted gown by Atelier Versace - nice on Heidi Klum.

Which is your favorite gown? Which one would you wear?

Tampa Bay Rays on a winning streak

(Do not copy photos)
I made it out to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. for the second to last Tampa Bay Rays' home game. I don't like crossing the Howard Franklin Bridge that connects Tampa to St. Petersburg - a 45 minute drive on a good day - but when there are ticket promotions as good as $9.53 for $40 or more seats (95.3 FM radio promotion), can't go wrong (about $11 with fees and tax).
As for parking, yes it can be costly if you don't car pool or don't want to walk a few blocks to park for $5 to $15. Or arrive early enough to park further on a side road at no cost. Stadium parking is $20.
We all know food at any sports event is expensive but at Tropicana Field closed water bottles and snacks are permitted; therefore, I did just that. I packed my cooler with frozen and refrigerated bottles of water, a bottle of peanuts and sliced up pizza in plastic containers. Once at the park I put one refrigerated and frozen water bottle in a plastic bag to place in my tote, the peanuts and pizza to enjoy while watching the baseball game.
It was Fun Day Sunday so there were many family activities for the children and the Raymond bobble head giveaway for kids 14 years and younger. If you arrive early, there is the Ted Williams Museum and Hitters Hall of Fame (free admission), Rays Touch Tank (free), Tropicana Field Tours (free) and other events going on.

When I arrived the game had already started since I had a prior obligation. It was a good game although not as competitive as Friday's 18 inning game. The Rays had a second winning against the Baltimore Orioles 3 - 1 and did the same today to take the series sweep against Baltimore with a 4 - 3 win.
I was able to dance and sing to the songs played for the players and the game songs, clap, make lots of noise and scream as loud as I could - all part of watching live sports, right. Good way to release stress and tensions too. It also took me back to my young baseball days when dad played for non-professional Spanish leagues up north.
I was in no rush to head back home and to avoid the traffic I hung out to watch the kids run the bases and play wiffleball. Yes I will admit I looked around to see if at least one Raymond bobblehead was left unclaimed. I wasn't as lucky with Raymond but was lucky with some other left behind finds - food serving helmets.
So now the Rays are on the road to finish off their 2013 MLB regular season with three games against the New York Yankees and three with Toronto. And we hope they will continue to win to at least keep the wild card and make it to the next round of games.

'One More Game' Tampa Bay Rays vying for the wild card

The 2013 MLB (Major League Baseball) is quickly coming to a close. Teams are trying to keep their first place division standings and others are fighting for a wild card position as is the Tampa Bay Rays.

Yes coming from a baseball family - players and watchers - and born and raised up north, I was a New York Yankee rooter. But once I moved to Florida, I started rooting for the Tampa Bay Rays too while they are still here. No, I am not a traitor. I just root for both of them and attend a Rays' game whenever I can.

The Rays' last home game is Monday, Sept. 23; therefore, let's continue to cheer them on. Join me this Sunday, Sept. 22 to help the Rays keep the wild card momentum alive.

Let's go Tampa Bay Rays!

Remaining 2013 Tampa Bay Rays' home games:

  • Sunday, Sept. 22 at 1:40 p.m. vs Baltimore Orioles - Rays win 3 - 1

I need a repeat of August

(Photos and content are not to be copied)
First winners of Lane Bryant's grand opening giveaways
What an August month I had that honestly I wish I could rewind it. I hope everyone's was just as exciting and fulfilling as mine was - shopping, volunteer, concerts, and tons of boats.

Started off by attending the grand opening of Lane Bryant's store in Brandon, Fla. conveniently located in a shopping strip and not in a mall like most stores. Nice atmosphere, clientele, employees and selection (much bigger than a mall store too). Loved the $25 Lane Bryant gift card giveaway (50 per day) and ecstatic to be one of the first winners.

And the weekend I was so looking forward to - volunteer, reunion with friends and music all for a good cause. It had been long overdue to do some volunteer work as I had been an active volunteer for sports events and charities. It felt awesome to get back in the gist of volunteering for a worthy cause with special friends from close and far that share the same love and sentiments for a foundation and its founder - Maestro Cares Foundation.
Maestro Cares Foundation fundraisers held at select U.S. venues
A foundation founded by my all-time favorite salsa singer sensation Marc Anthony and CMN Events Henry Cardenas. Maestro Cares' projects involve assisting in the development of orphanages in Puerto Rico, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic by providing food, school supplies, dorm rooms, classrooms and clinics so that children are surrounded by a healthy learning environment. They are currently in the phase two of its first orphanage Niños de Cristo at La Romana, Dominican Republic.

At select Marc Anthony's Vivir Mi Vida U.S. concerts, Maestro Cares Foundation have fundraisers where all proceeds/donations go directly to the foundation. This is where I and other volunteers stepped in to assist with meet and greet, auctions and buy a brick. And then after our good deed we were able to enjoy an evening with Marc Anthony and his band in concert. What a phenomenal concert, well concerts that is with one of the best Latin salsa singers there is today and to top it off one of a kind musicians and back-up singers.

Then after my road trip from Tampa to Miami then to Orlando and back to Tampa on my Maestro Care and Marc Anthony tour venture it was a change of music from salsa music to reggae, pop, jazz, blues, soft rock per say and soul - like going back to old school music. I was invited to attend Bruno Mars' Moonshine Jungle concert. Wow he and his band took me back to my school days - to what good music was and should be.
Bruno Mars exceptional performer
From shopping, volunteering to concerts a perfect way to close out the month with a boat show experience. Hundreds of boats docked outside of Tampa Convention Center and its interior including vendors at Progressive Insurance Tampa Boat Show. After walking around I signed up for their 20 minute or so boat ride. As much as I love the water and boats, this was my summer highlight.
